Get Involved

ASHA depends on our generous and hardworking volunteers. Without volunteers the work of ASHA would not get done and we are thankful to all our 18 present and 119 past volunteers.

If you are interested in joining ASHA we would love to hear from you. As a small office it is not always possible to take on new volunteers but we will keep your details on our waiting list.

General volunteer roles include registering clients, answering the phone, filing, sending faxes, photocopying and interpreting.

We are particularly interested in recruiting volunteer Caseworkers and have vacancies in this area. Caseworkers advise clients on drop in days (Wednesday and Thursday), make applications for asylum support and help with asylum support queries and appeals to the Asylum Support Tribunal. Caseworkers also provide general advocacy and signposting to other services.  Hands on training is provided and no experience of asylum support is needed (just an eye for detail, excellent administration skills and a passion for upholding the rights of asylum seekers to food and shelter).
